What is BizSpark?

BizSpark is a global Microsoft’s initiative for technology start-ups in the software development industry. The programme is designed to help new companies to grow successfully during the first three years in business. Microsoft provides programme participants with the latest professional software development tools and server products ready to be used for building proprietary Internet solutions.

The BizSpark programme offers a number of benefits for your company:

  • Free software – Microsoft provides companies with a three-year subscription for access to Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN) Professional where users can download necessary tools for development, testing and maintenance of applications on the Microsoft platform, including:
    • Microsoft® Visual Studio® Team System Team Suite (VSTS) with MSDN Premium subscription
    • Expression® Studio Version 2
    • VSTS Team Foundation Server (Standard Edition)
    • Microsoft Windows Server® (including Enterprise Edition)
    • Microsoft SQL Server® (all editions)
    • Microsoft Office SharePoint® Portal Server
    • Microsoft System Center
    • Microsoft BizTalk® Server
  • Knowledge and technical support – With MSDN Library, participants in the BizSpark programme receive professional support and expert advice. BizSpark enables them to establish contact with business partners around the world: entrepreneur incubators, investors, consultants, government agencies and hosting service providers.
  • Promotion – By joining the programme, you will have the opportunity to profile your business in the dedicated BizSparkDB.com platform hosted on the Microsoft Startup Zone website and get exposure to the international audience of potential investors, customers and partners.
  • Economy – Your company is granted free-of-charge access to the latest technologies with no upfront cost, which is an important advantage during business start up phase.

BizSpark eligibility requirements

The maximum period of participation in the programme is three years. To be eligible for the programme, your company must:

  • be privately held*
  • focus on software development as the core business
  • have USD 500,000 or less in annual turnover
  • be in business for not more than three years

How to join BizSpark with HSBC?

To join BizSpark with HSBC as your sponsor you must:

  • meet the BizSpark eligibility criteria
  • open a free-of-charge Business Direct account with HSBC
  • log on to the Business Direct Internet Banking and send us a secure message. Then we will send you a link: click it to register in the BizSpark programme and access free software.
