The Single Euro Payment Area (SEPA) is a project aimed to create a single market for within the European Union, based on cooperation, common procedures and standards of all European banking systems.

The European Union decided to introduce the SEPA system to facilitate and accelerate cross-border money transfers between EU countries.

The Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) relates to payments between 31 European countries: 27 EU members, Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein and Switzerland.
